Pimp my school project

“A beautiful environment creates and develops beautiful people” Jim Madiba

The South African Education department is continuously seeking on how to improve our education system, teaching standards and school facility. This year the State of the Nation Address given by our President Jacob Zuma saw increase education expenditure. This is always a positive impact on our education and each financial year we hope things to improve, because despite the challenges as a nation we shouldn’t lose hope. The future for our education system looks bright with two Universities being built in Mpumalanga and Northern Cape. Next year we will reach a milestone of 20 years of democracy. South Africa has managed to accomplish so much in a period of 19 years; however we did capitalize and improved the infrastructure already in place. The journey continues in creating a free, fun and comfortable learning space for our children.

This year an innovative initiative called “Pimp my school” is taking place in a rural community in the Eastern Cape. The program was scheduled to take for 9 days starting from the 24 March until 1 April 2013. Given that the program is postponed it will take place in the spring season, starting on 6th – 16 April 2013

“Pimp my school” is an initiative that will see volunteers going into a rural community to renovate schools that are in an alarming state that need to be made beautiful. The initiative will see volunteers getting their hands dirty by painting classrooms, building play parks, planting trees,  working/playing with the children and talking to people about effective savings plans. 5 schools are targeted for this program and by the end of day 8 volunteers will be able to leave a legacy in providing a clean, hygiene and beautiful space to study.
